Have you been outside today?

Founders Intro:
Allow us to reintroduce ourselves (Jay-Z voice): Sophia Li (journalist, STEWARD climate lead) who’s the annoying little sister to Maria Li (COO, Tech in Asia & STEWARD Commercial lead) who is scarily similar to Lydia Pang in that oldest-child, first generation kinda way (co-founder, MORNING & STEWARD Creative lead).
There you have it: three women who were skeptical about NFTs and web3 bro culture launching a web3 climate community, backed by blockchain technology to close the climate funding gap (hear us out).
We actually despise titles. At STEWARD, we believe in identities that go beyond the societal identities. Our job titles, national, and (sometimes) political identities are all bestowed onto us. Instead of asking, “what do you do?” we ask “what are you passionate about?” and “where are you from?” actually means “what ecosystem did you grow up in?”. Oh and ofc, we believe we are all stewards of our share home.
So here’s the deal. Web3 isn’t here yet but it will be, definitely in our lifetimes. Also already playing out in our lifetimes is the biggest crisis modern society has ever faced: the climate crisis. And currently less than 2% of all global philanthropy goes to funding the climate movement. And 70% of people identify as “climate delayers” (they believe in the science of climate change but delay action).
So STEWARD fundamentally exists to close this climate funding gap (using blockchain technology to fund 8 climate nonprofits in the 8 major ecosystems of the world). While closing the emotional gap we have towards the climate. Welcome to our newsletter, let’s get outside together!
P.S. The countdown to our launch this summer starts now!
What’s going on in Climate 3.0?
First of all, what is climate 3.0? It’s what we call the intersection between Web3 and climate, the place where STEWARD also lives.
Here’s what else is happening in this space:
Web3 project Ecosapiens raised $3.5M from VCs, ushering in a new wave of climate impact into the web3 space for individuals to offset their carbon emissions.
Philanthropy is also going decentralized as Endaoment, a 501c3, makes it possible to donate any digital asset to nonprofit organizations.
Netherlands-based Circularise uses blockchain to track materials through the entire supply chain. This helps recover products for proper recycling or end of life, bringing us closer to a global circular economy.
The STEWARD team is proud to co-chair the World Economic Forum’s Crypto Sustainability Coalition on climate x web3 impact, check out a recent publication from the larger group:

Stewards of the week:

excited to see this happen!!!!
