Go Outside #8: But What Is The Most Significant Thing I Can Do for the Planet?
Nature is calling. So what can we do to help?

Founders Intro:
The #1 question anyone working in the climate space gets asked is, “what is the most significant thing I can do as an individual for the climate crisis?”
Throughout the years, my answers have evolved. Advocating for plant-based diets, traveling less or the simple act of recycling are all commendable, encouraged actions but also does not address the root problem of the system itself. Ask any Indigenous community and the act of eating meat is sacred, the industrialization of the cattle industry is what makes this meal the most carbon intensive. Regenerative agriculture is the systemic solution.
There’s flying shame when taking an airplane, where instead the finger should be pointed at the reliance of transportation on fossil fuels and coal. There are robust solutions like bio-fuel, renewables, hydrogen-fuel readily available to be scaled and shifting urban planning when studies show walkable neighborhoods are directly correlated to happiness. And don’t get me started on the recycling industry where only less than 10% of all plastic is actually recycled, the systemic solution here is addressing overproduction and single-use plastic first which was only introduced in the 1990s.
So what can an individual do?
We can all become Stewards. Especially when we know that less than 2% of global philanthropy goes to climate solutions and environmental nonprofits receive the lowest donation of any charitable cause. Though according to the last Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report, all the climate solutions already exist, they just need 10x more funding.
The donation model is an outdated system in itself, most donations are one-offs and most people, if they do at all, only donate to one climate or environmental organization.
With STEWARD, you have a diversified climate solutions portfolio represented by a piece of digital artwork that also brings you closer to our ecosystems. A digital id of our climate action. We have diversified investment portfolios, why wouldn’t we for climate solutions?
This is all on-chain as it ensures an ongoing donation model to our climate nonprofits (check the 8 orgs out here), with 40% going directly towards their conservation efforts and Indigenous stewardship.
On the hottest summer on record, individual action can seem overwhelming and fruitless but we must remember the power of individual collection action. Becoming a Steward and sharing this with a friend drives funding towards on-the-ground solutions that protect our carbon sinks, preserve traditional ecological knowledge, and alleviate the injustices communities of color experience. Each of these snowball actions and solutions help determine a hundredth of a degree shift representing thousands of lives saved and ultimately the survival of our biosphere.
Nature is calling,
