We’ve been thinking…
In our rapidly evolving society, how can we build a bridge between the digital and physical worlds?
How can we ensure our natural world is protected as our digital world is being expanded?
How can we use digital art to have a direct positive impact on people and the planet?
How can we redistribute wealth for all parties involved?
We are launching STEWARD in late June 2023 to answer these questions.
STEWARD’s solution is simple: connect eight global artists with the eight major ecosystems of our natural world to fund eight climate nonprofits.
How things work today
Today our current digital landscape is at odds with nature:
As of September 2021, the total market capitalization of the cryptocurrency market was around $2.5 trillion USD
Meta has spent $36 billion trying to build the metaverse
Investors are paying millions for virtual land in the metaverse
Meanwhile:
According to the last Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report, all the climate solutions exist they just need 10x more funding (source)
U.N. climate scientists believe they can halt climate change with $300 billion (source)
The reality of the climate funding gap:
Less than 2% of global philanthropy goes to climate (source)
Climate receives the least amount of funding of any charitable cause, even though it’s seen as our greatest threat
There is both a massive financial and emotional disconnect currently taking place as our natural world and digital worlds compete for survival. STEWARD believes there is no competition: without a thriving natural world, there is simply no digital world.
The speed at which technology is advancing is rapidly changing and the most vulnerable communities and already fragile ecosystems are being left behind. STEWARD exists to change this, to ensure the natural world is protected through the digital world as we expand into web3.
We are closing this climate funding gap and transferring capital from the digital world to the natural world using Onchain technology, introducing the highest revenue split yet with 40% going towards our climate nonprofit partners.
While building an emotional connection to ecosystems with our digital art that evolves based on weather patterns happening in real-time. On average, we check our phones 344 times a day, and oftentimes our desktop background or phone screen background is an image of a scenic landscape of nature. We admire it through our technology, but we’re not protecting it and these idyllic images give us a false sense of the state of our ecosystems that are currently being threatened by the climate crisis. Now imagine having in the palm of your hands' digital art that helps combat the climate crisis, and evolves based on weather patterns, while still bringing you emotionally closer to nature.
All while being built on a carbon-negative blockchain, Celo.
Call us the Neopets of climate, STEWARD is more than digital art — it’s an extension of our values that we are bringing into web3. Without our people or planet being left behind.
That’s it for now. We will be in touch on further dates and project information.
Peace,
Team Steward
